Third Space Network (3SN) and the DAP-Lab completed The River of no one, an online dance/music performance workshop on Sunday, March 12, 4pm GMT / 11am EST. 3SN Celebrates the life of media visionary and activist Gene Youngblood in a memorial tribute on Tuesday, June 15, 4pm EDT. The event is a Telematic LASER in association with Leonardo and the University of Brighton. The debut Internet performance/workshop of the Deep Third Space Lab, performed by tenor Charles Lane and dancer/choreographer Daniel Charon. Thursday, July 15, 6pm EDT. The fourth and final panel in the series is DIY Maker Culture, Wednesday, May 12 at 6pm ET-US, exploring the social significance of DIY (Do it Yourself) maker spaces that push the boundaries of interdisciplinary collaboration and artistic invention. This lecture/performance by Randall Packer is an invitation to venture together into the Deep Third Space to imagine and explore new multimedia potentialities and realizations of the community of theater in a globally connected culture. From my underground studio bunker, I overcome the impossible by creating spontaneous studio experiences that convey the otherworldly things that generally go unnoticed. – Randall Packer Amidst the turmoil surrounding the TRUMP Exodus from the White House on Inauguration Day, 3SN is activating the underground studio bunker in Washington, DC, transforming the bunker into a networked communications hub. Four interdisciplinary public dialogues from the arts and media studies grapple with the impact of unfolding events in 2020 in order to dissect and illuminate the complex array of crises we face today. The inaugural Telematics L•A•S•E•R is a critical dialogue among telematic performance specialists Ghislaine Boddington (UK), Steve Dixon (SG), Paul Sermon (UK), moderated by Randall Packer (US). Networked Conversations brings people together in live creative dialogue, our own alternative media where we debate the latest issues and break the news: all from a uniquely art & activist lens. A Networked Performance Installation by Paul Sermon in collaboration with Randall Packer, Gregory Kuhn and the Third Space Network. Participants are invited to enter into the deep third space to engage & perform a ritual action as a reflection on the Covid-19 state of being [together] remotely. The DC Metro Virtual Town Hall will feature local artists & arts leaders moderating virtual roundtables intended to share & brainstorm online strategies, project ideas, funding sources, support for artists, & community outreach. The event will address the impact of Covid-19 on the visual arts in the DC metropolitan cultural community, an invitation for visual arts organizations, galleries, artists, curators, and other arts professionals to participate. Art of the Networked Practice Online Symposium 2015 was an international gathering exploring emergent forms of networked research, artistic production, and teaching in the arts. 12 Artist-Broadcasters from 6 countries in Europe & North America performed simultaneously in a 90-minute socially broadcasted global culture jam + net performance. Art of the Networked Practice Online Symposium 2018 explored the concept of social broadcasting as a revolutionary shift that creatively joined artists and audiences in live, networked spaces.
